EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of garments used for safety and protection. It determines the fabrics performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring its abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.

The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a garment in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.

See The Sleeve In Action

Please view the video below to see what an Ejendals Tegera Sleeve does to protect you in the workplace:

Why Wear a Sleeve?

Firstly, wearing a sleeve is comfortable and easy. You simply slip it on, position it using the flexible thumb cuff pictured below and forget about it. Secondly, the arm contains vital tendons, muscles, veins and arteries that can sever when damaged. This can cause loss of sensation and even use.

Who Should Wear a Sleeve?

Anyone handling material that can cut, cause tearing or abrasions, has sharp edges or is abrasive should consider adding a sleeve to their workwear uniform. The arms are constantly exposed and vulnerable when handling hazardous material. Don't wait for an accident to sort out your protection.

Kevlar Reinforcement

Kevlar is a synthetic material manufactured by DuPont. It is a tightly woven collection of aramid fibres, spun until the bond formed between them is too tight to separate. It is used in cut-resistant clothing and gloves because the lack of a gap between the fibres prevents blade and sharp implement tips from piercing or puncturing through it.

What Does a Safety Sleeve Do?

A sleeve simply slips on, slides underneath the hem of your t-shirt and gloves and provides protection against misfiring machine parts, dropped material, blade tips and any other sharp workplace hazards. It stays fitted thanks to a looped wrist cuff which works to keep the sleeve in place and prevent fabric "ride up".

Stainless Steel Fibre Yarn Construction

Fabrics which are cut-resistant commonly use tiny metal fragments and fibres in their fabric blend. This bolsters and reinforces cut-resistance without making the garment rigid and stiff. The Ejendals Tegera 75 Sleeve uses stainless steel fibre yarn to jam and prevent sharp implement tips breaking through the core construction of the sleeve.
