Protection Ratings and Safety Standards

EN 388: Mechanical Resistance

  • EN 388: 4X42D

EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of gloves used for safety and protection. It determines the gloves' performance when used for protection against mechanical machinery by measuring the fabric's abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.

The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a glove in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.

Size 10 254mm 204mm

Innovative Resistance Combination

The Polyco Capilex D Gloves combine 100°C heat resistance with excellent cut resistance, making the gloves well suited to fabrication, foundry and metal handling. The superb grip is supported by a lightweight but flexible design, helping you get to grips with most materials, tools and items. This means that while you won't drop items you are handling, you won't hurt your hands either.

100°C Contact Heat Resistance

A level one contact heat rating is perfect for handling car parts like pipes and engines, where material doesn't exceed 100°C in temperature. Thin in design and lightweight in construction, Capilex Gloves make sure to retain every ounce of dexterity and precision your fingertips need to interact with intricate machine parts and tools.

Level D Cut Resistance Rating

Level D cut-resistance demonstrates that the Polyco Capilex Lightweight Cut and Heat Gloves can withstand 22 newtons of downward force applied by a sharp implement before showing any visible signs of damage. This means that blades, metals and other sharp objects struggle to pierce the glove fabric.

Polyco Capilex Cut-Resistant Work Gloves

What's So Special About Foam Nitrile?

Foam nitrile is an incredibly durable and porous coating. It is unparalleled when working around liquids as it works to absorb and suck up water and oil, preventing slips and drops.

It behaves like a sponge, creating a suction cup effect which leaves the user able to grip tightly onto whatever it is they're lifting. Foam nitrile is also three times more puncture resistant than rubber.

Maximum Level 4 Abrasion and Tear Resistance

Polyco Capilex Cut-Resistance Heat Gloves boast a level 4 EN 388 rating for abrasions and tears, demonstrating how much stress and strain they can withstand before showing signs of wear and tear. Abrasion resistance is especially desirable for workers who work in logistics or manual handling.

Polyco Capilex Cut-Resistant Work Gloves

Reinforced Thumb Crotch Area

A reinforced thumb crotch can save a pair of gloves. Inherently weak and prone to splitting, the thumb crotch area (the bend between your index finger and thumb) is often the first area of a glove to break.

Bolstered with a strip of thick, mechanically resistant flat nitrile fabric, the thumb crotch on Polyco CPD Capilex Gloves becomes one of the strongest areas on the glove, enhancing grip and saving you time and money in the long run.

Ultra-Lightweight Foundation Material

It's often the case that gloves with a high cut-resistance rating are incredibly bulky due to the amount of fabric traditionally required to shield against cuts, incisions and lacerations. Polyco CPD Capilex Gloves buck this trend by using Kyorene® Graphene as a foundation material, which has all the same properties of a lighter fabric without compromising on cut-resistance.
