Portwest AC01 Blade and Cut Resistant Chainmail Glove
Some food preparation tasks are more dangerous than others. Shucking oysters, slicing meat and other butchery tasks can all result in serious injury. A Portwest AC01 Blade and Cut Resistant Chainmail Glove is made with high-quality chainmail that creates an impenetrable metal sleeve around the hand, causing blade ends, knives and other sharp implement tips to become jammed before they can reach the hand.
Please note that this glove is ambidextrous, meaning it will fit both the left or right hand and that this product is sold as a single glove, not a pair.
What's Included?
Blade Cut Protection
The Portwest AC01 Glove is EN1082-1 European Standard certified for use with hand knives. They are made with high-quality, stainless steel chainmail, making them incredibly cut and blade resistant. Chainmail is a series of metal rings locked together to form a protective sheet.
The AC01 Gloves are made from high-quality chainmail
How Does a Portwest Chainmail Glove Work?
As metal does not bend or tear like fabric does, chainmail protects against punctures, cuts and incisions by blocking the tip of a sharp implement before it can get close enough to pierce the skin. This makes them the optimum hand-wear in abattoirs, food preparation environments and blade handling settings.
How Much Force Can Chainmail Withstand?
Because the outer shell is so tight, there is no gap for a blade to move or cut through. A standard kitchen knife will not be able to break through the tightly linked metal. This means when shucking oyster or forcefully hacking at meat, your hands are completely safe.
Who Should Be Using a Chainmail Glove?
Anyone working in food preparation should be using a glove that offers a high level of blade cut protection. Please see the list of suitable environments and professions to see if you could benefit:
