Resistance of the TG1260 Gloves
We believe these gloves are excellent for handling tools and getting the job done in a range of industries but don't just take our word for it. These gloves are back by a regulatory body, adhering to EN 388 (mechanical protection). See below for further details:
What Is EN 388?
EN 388 stands for Mechanical Resistance, and informs you of the resistance of the gloves to abrasion, cuts, tears and punctures. Simply speaking, the higher the score that this product achieves, the better the product will be at resisting that hazard. Products will score between Level 0 and Level 4 for abrasion, tears and punctures, and if they weren’t tested for that hazard you will see X written instead of a number.
Cuts are a little different and, with the EN 388 standard rewritten in 2016, it means that gloves will either be tested to cut resistance or ISO cut resistance (sometimes called TDM cut resistance). Gloves tested to cut resistance will score between Level 0 and Level 5, and gloves tested to ISO cut resistance will achieve a score between Level A and Level F, with the higher letter offering better cut protection.
EN 388
Property | Resistance Level |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 4 |
Cut Resistance | Level 1 |
Tear Resistance | Level 4 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 1 |
ISO Cut Resistance | Level A |
What Do These Results Mean?
The above ratings mean that the TraffiGlove Gloves offer both an outstanding level of abrasion resistance, which can protect the hands against knocks and scrapes, and an equally formidable tear resistance, which means these are extremely durable gloves. They do, however, offer lower cut-resistance, meaning that you won't want to wear the gloves in higher risk settings where the risk of cuts is present.
The TraffiSystem - Safety Level at a Glance
Traffi pride themselves on being the original inventors of the colour-coded safety glove system. The TraffiSystem makes it easy to identify the level of cut protection required, based on the EN 388 test for cut resistance, to ensure ultimate safety.
Colour | Rate of Cut Protection | Description of Protection |
RED | Low | Suitable for lower cut risk tasks only, such as general product handling, warehouse and assembly line work and some low risk construction jobs. They're a good choice for visitors on site. |
AMBER | Medium | Ideal for second fix construction, mechanical and electrical trades, steel fixing and handling materials with sharp edges. The gloves are finished with a variety of coatings. |
GREEN | High | The best choice for higher cut risk tasks like applying cladding, demolition, steel fabrication and handling glass or sheet metal with cut edges. They also provide higher levels of protection when dealing with unknown risks, such as in the waste and recycling industries. |

Once you've got your measurements, consult the sizing chart below. If your measurements fall on a boundary, we recommend sizing up for the best possible fit.
